Scale of Dragon Hat Knitting Pattern

This top-down hat features a spiral shaped crown that flows right into the body of the hat. The resulting pattern appears like dragon scales cascading down.

Several techniques are used to create this textured design, including a disappearing loop cast on, lifted increases, and a modified lace design to represent the scales. A stretchy bind off is needed for proper fit. Photo tutorials/ links are included to help you be successful.

Skill level: Intermediate

US 8/ 5mm 24” circular needles and/or DPNs
Optional: US 8/ 5mm 16” circular needles
US 7/ 4.5mm 16” circular needles
Gauge: 18 st x 24 rounds

DK:
US 6/ 4mm 24” circular needles and/ or DPNs
Optional: US 6/ 4mm 16” circular needles
US 4/ 3.5mm 16” circular needles
Gauge: 22 sts x 32 rounds

Finished sizes: approximately 8.5” x 9” flat
